Sonja Dahlgren Pryor to Retire
With a combination of happiness for her and sadness for us, we are announcing that Sonja Dahlgren Pryor (Sunny) will be retiring as Artistic Director/Conductor of Chorus North Shore effective after our Classical Greats Concert on May 13th.
Sunny has been the heart of CNS for over 62 years. Music has been her life-long calling. By the age of 15 she was already conducting the junior choir at her local church in Detroit, Michigan and singing in three different choruses a week.
Her many awards range from being recognized by the State of MA as an outstanding arts educator to the prestigious Walter Hancock Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Humanities.
Sunny has toured with us arranging concert performances in Italy, France, Slovenia, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, the Vatican…to name a few. Her quick wit and guidance have been indispensable, and we will not easily forget how much her love has inspired us all to do our best each and every day.
In honor of Sunny’s retirement (she has asked to “go out with a bang”) we will be holding a “Celebration of Sunny” at a later date this year.
Thank you, Sunny for your incredible contributions to Chorus North Shore and your love. We will miss you and we hope you enjoy continued good health and future adventures during your retirement!

Pryor added, “I am happy where I am. I’m happy living in Ipswich. I am lucky.”
