Hi Everyone – With September around the corner, a few reminders as we get ready to sing Messiah.
Our first rehearsal will be on September 9, 2024, at Ipswich High School in the Chorus Room at 7:00 pm and every Monday thereafter except the 10/14 & 11/11 Monday holidays.
Registration
Since we have a large number of singers for this session, we are asking that you make every attempt to register (pay dues, pick up music if needed and review personal information) at Ipswich High School in the Fine Arts Lobby prior to the first rehearsal between 6:15 – 6:50 pm so we can be on the risers in the Choral Room for 7 p.m.
Dues & music fees
• Dues – $75 per session ($45 for new members). As in the past, dues relief can be arranged for anyone needing financial assistance. Please speak with our treasurer on a strictly confidential basis. • Music Cost – Hopefully you have communicated to CNS Membership either at the past Spring Bernstein rehearsals or via e-mail that you need to purchase Messiah so we have enough copies available. For those needing to purchase music, the cost for Messiah is $11.
• Make checks payable to Chorus North Shore with “dues” and “music” on the memo lines. If paying in cash, it should be the exact amount.
Rehearsal Guidelines:
• Rehearsals will begin 7:00pm sharp. Please be in your seat and ready to sing.
• Please break out your CNS names tag and wear it at all rehearsals. If you don’t have one, please let membership know at registration so one can be made for you.
• Mandatory sign-in at each rehearsal. Attendance is of utmost importance. Absences are limited to 3 before being reviewed by Abby. Please let membership know if you are not able to make rehearsal.
• Once a singer has established their seat at the first rehearsal, try and keep that seat for each rehearsal. New members, just ask another singer who will direct you to your section.
• For anyone new to Chorus North Shore, we will be having a short orientation directly after the second rehearsal on 9/16
Concert Week
Monday, 12/2 Chorus Rehearsal Ipswich High School, Chorus Room
Wednesday, 12/4 Orchestra Rehearsal Our Lady of Hope, Ipswich
Thursday, 12/5 Dress Rehearsal Our Lady of Hope, Ipswich
Saturday, 12/7/23 7pm Concert Our Lady of Hope Singers arrive at 6pm
Sunday, 12/8/23 3pm Concert Our Lady of Hope Singers arrive at 2pm
Concert Attire
We have two options for attire:
• Black tuxedos, black shoes and socks
• Long black skirt or long black dress pants. Full legs, no tights or slim pants. Plain black scoop or V-neck top with 3/4 sleeves. (no ruffles or adornments)
• Black opaque stockings, black shoes (no sandals).
• No jewelry except stud earrings.
Also, no perfume, after shave or garlic.
Wait list
We have reached our singer cap, so please direct singers who may approach you about joining us in September and have not already contacted Jenn Beauregard in membership to our online registration at New Member Registration – Chorus North Shore to fill out an online registration form. Once we receive their registration, they will be added to the wait list and contacted promptly if a slot opens up.
Illness
• Don’t come to rehearsal if you are sick.
• Anyone not feeling well please refrain from attending rehearsal.
• Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 should notify your section leader so we can inform singers with whom you may have interacted.
• Follow the latest CDC guidelines for isolation and have a negative Covid test within 48 hours of returning to rehearsal.
• Masks at rehearsal or the concert are always optional. Masks worn at the concert need to be black.
